STAINLESS STEEL FITTINGS DIN 11851

DIN 11851 defines the German standard for stainless steel fittings used primarily for the rapid and hygienic connection of pipes in food, dairy, wine, chemical and pharmaceutical plants.

Main features

These fittings are designed to ensure maximum cleanliness and prevent bacterial growth, usually operating at low pressure.

Fitting components

A complete joint (often called a "nozzle") is made up of 4 main elements:

1. Male union (cone): Welded or tapped to the pipe, it has a conical end for coupling.
2. Female union (threaded): Also fixed to the pipe, it has an external thread.
3. Swivel (ring): Internally threaded nut that screws the male and female together, creating the closing pressure.
4. Gasket: Placed between the male and female, it guarantees the watertight seal of the transported fluid.

Materials and Certifications

• Steel: Mainly made of AISI 304 (1.4301) or AISI 316L (1.4404).
• Safety: They can be certified [MOCA] (Materials and Objects in Contact with Food).

Dimensions and Pressures

The diameters (DN) typically range from Ø 10 mm to Ø 150 mm.
Operating pressures (PN) depend on size:

• From DN 10 to DN 40: up to 40 bar
• From DN 50 to DN 100: up to 25 bar
• From DN 125 to DN 150: up to 16 bar
